Te project is being implemented with the financial support of Disability Rights Fund, USA. The purpose of the projects is to demonstrate Supported Decision Making as a model of decision making as an alternative to guardianship and thus empowering adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to make choices in their life. This project aims at preparing the community i.e. parents, siblings, immediate community and local leaders and building a support network for assisting the individual in exercising legal capacity. The demonstration projects develop support networks for around 20 adults with IDD.  The project has already been undertaken by Parivaar in Durg, (Chhatisgarh), Bhubaneswar (Odisha), Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Bangalore (Karnataka), Hyderabad (Andhra Pradesh) and Delhi. The final phase of SDM demonstration is being implemented in two districts of Kerala in 2012-13.
