Registration CertificatePresident’s Message

Over a period of past 16 years of journey in strengthening the parents movement in our country,  PARIVAAR – a National Confederation of Parents’ Organizations has become an icon of strength to be reckoned with in protecting the rights of the Persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (PwIDDs) i.e Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities. Beginning with a small number of  22 parents’ associations in 1996, today PARIVAAR has become a cohesive force of over 230 Parents’ Associations and NGOs across the country spread over 28 states and 3 union territories and recognized as one of the biggest parents’ organizations nationally and worldwide.

Looking back towards this arduous journey, we are able to know how far we have travelled and where we stand today. We are filled with a sense of accomplishment and have reconfirmed our conviction and commitment to PARIVAAR.   We had embarked on restructuring our organization internally to meet the present day challenges and externally, reflecting the global view of disability movement to guide us for the next two decades.   We are launching the new accessible website with basic information about Parivaar; its policies, programmes and achievements.  From time to time we will be uploading information on current events including our quarterly newsletter.

I take this opportunity to place on record my heartfelt thanks to AusAid and CBM South Asia Regional Office, Bangalore for supporting us in launching this website. We express our   gratitude to all those luminaries in the field of intellectual and development disabilities who by sharing their wisdom and thoughtful inputs have enriched our vision.

Warm greetings!
